Harvesting of Kashmiri Walnuts in the Valley: Harvesting walnuts in Kashmir is both a skill and a risk. Farmers climb tall trees barefoot, striking branches with long sticks to loosen the fruit. Once collected, walnuts are husked, washed, and dried using time-honoured techniques. It's a labour-intensive process.

Washing & Cleaning by the River: After dehusking, walnuts are carried to flowing streams or rivers for thorough cleaning, which is mostly preferred by the growers.
