Kashmiri Kehwa

Ingredients for making Kashmiri Kehwa:

  • 1 to 2 cups of water

  • 5 to 7 strands of Kashmir Allure Kashmiri Mongra Saffron

  • 1 teaspoon of honey or sugar (optional)

  • 1 small cinnamon stick

  • 2 green cardamom pods

  • 1 teaspoon of loose-leaf green tea (for traditional Kehwa)

  • Crushed almonds or walnuts (optional, for garnish)

Step by Step guide to make Kashmiri Kehwa: 1. Boil the Water: Begin by boiling 1-2 cups of water over medium heat.

2. Add Spices: Once the water starts boiling, add the crushed green cardamom pods and small cinnamon sticks to the water. Let them simmer for about 2-3 minutes to release their aromatic flavours into the water.

3. Add Saffron Strands: Add a pinch of saffron strands to the tea. Stir gently. Allow it to simmer for 2-3 more minutes, letting the saffron infuse its colour and fragrance into the tea.

4. Sweeten the Tea: Add & stir sugar or honey to taste, depending on how sweet you want your kehwa.

5. Simmer: Let the tea simmer for an additional 3-4 minutes to allow the flavours to blend.

6. Strain the Tea: After simmering, strain the kehwa into cups to remove the spices and tea leaves.

7. Garnish (Optional): Garnish your kehwa with crushed almonds or walnuts for added texture and flavour.

8. Serve: Serve the hot, aromatic Kashmiri kehwa immediately.
